Job Description

The Solution Delivery Lead Engineer II will play a pivotal role in operationalizing Data Science initiatives for the company. The bulk of the work will be distributed between creating models in Optimization, Simulation, and AI/Machine Learning and then utilizing advanced automation/parallelization methods to ensure rapid deployment and efficient run time of said models and artifacts.

These activities will allow for more useful and sustainable outcomes for Data Science initiatives. The Engineer will be measured on the ability to integrate these data science models and artifacts with the company's business processes.

Additionally, the Lead Engineer will be expected to collaborate with data scientists, data analysts and other data consumers and work on the models, algorithms, and artifacts developed by them in order to optimize those outcomes for model compute time, production sustainability, and delivery automation.

The Engineer will have a combination of IT skills, data skills, analytics skills and knowledge with a technical or computer science degree. Success in the role includes engaging and having regular discussions with other data scientists, data analysts, and internal customers to successfully move a given project forward.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Collaborate with Data Scientists, data engineers, and IT to evaluate and implement various MLOps methodologies and deployment options that align with the Enterprise Data & Insights (ED&I) strategy and objectives.
  • Prioritize, scope, and manage data science projects and the corresponding key performance indicators (KPIs) for success.
  • Continuously monitor execution and health of production ML models and establish best practices around ML production infrastructure.
  • Train other business and IT staff on basic data science principles and techniques and mentor peers on specialist data science topics.
  • Acquire access to various databases and other sources systems such as SQL or graph databases and create data pipelines for more efficient and repeatable data science projects.

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, or related field, or in lieu of related degree, at least 6 years of experience in Data and Analytics solution delivery.

Preferred:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) preferred

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 10+ years of experience in Data and Analytics solution delivery
  • Basic understanding of project management, able to adapt and assist in a team environment
  • Good communication skills, able to build working relationships with team members and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of databases, cloud architecture, data integration, and protection tools
  • Understanding of data protection regulations
  • Capability to grasp the technical details of Analytics and Insights solutions

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Cloud Platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Big Data Technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
  • Project Management Methodology
  • Software Development Methodology (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, DevOps)
